Team Captain Job Description


Department: Consulting - Client Delivery/Knowledge Services

Reports to one of the following positions (when feasible):

Controller/Manager ☐ Bookkeeper III

Team Captain ☐ Executive (CEO, CFO, etc….)

Position:

Exempt ☒ Full-Time Hourly

Non-Exempt ☐ Part-Time (<30 Hours) Salaried

SUMMARY:

Use accounting background to capture operations of Sooter Consulting Clients per provided Work Order


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsible for managing a team of Bookkeepers

  1. Accountable for the Quality Control Process of their team

  2. Ensure team’s policies and procedures are current

  3. Ensure there is redundancy for their team

  4. Can perform all necessary bookkeeping functions that the team is doing

  5. Can perform all necessary payroll functions that the team is doing


On-boards new clients

  1. Understand how to import transactions via CSV files

  2. Understand and perform mapping structure in QBO


Accountable for the delivery of their team’s client financial reports

  1. File Sales Tax Reports for client, when needed

Run regular reports as well as create and run custom reports as needed

Ad Hoc, as directed


a. Responsible for monthly clarification calls for their team

Provide comprehensive financial updates to clients by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points

b. Provide clients with information vital to decision-making process

c. Report on variances that impact the business

d. Assist clients in developing and monitoring business performance metrics


Responsible for the 1099 process for the team

a. Can start and host a web video meeting

b. Ability to analyze financial results and share results via Video


Meet budgeted hour requirements while meeting all deadlines


Maintains confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and financial records.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of GAAP. Advanced knowledge in all areas of Accounting and payroll. Computer skills to include Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO ProAdvisor Required), knowledge Intuit Online Payroll, and working knowledge of social networking tools. Must have prior experience in accounting. Experience in accounting for Insurance industries is a plus. Familiarity with Profit First Principles and Clockworks.


Abilities: Must communicate clearly and concisely both orally and written. Must be a good listener – demonstrating courtesy and care. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, offering solutions and options. Leads the work of others. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision, but a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works independently and as part of a team. Must have advanced computer skills. Must have 3 years of prior experience working in a remote environment.


Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-10 years of practical hands-on work experience in accounting, specifically AP, AR, and payroll. Has prior management experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within accounting. Open to new ideas, comfortable with change.

Work is performed indoors with some potential exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. As this is a remote position, the employee must have space conducive to upholding privacy of the information they will be exposed to.


The position works remotely and limited travel is required, less than 10%.
