I love money and numbers! My love for money started when I worked at a large non-profit company. My job was to help design and implement a department where all the money would be processed through. At the time they hired me, each branch was responsible for collecting payments from program participants. The challenge was that the program directors were busy running the program. The result was a large age receivable report and a shortage of cash to run the program. I can not begin to express the thrill that ran through me as I was able to bring down the numbers on the Accounts Receivable report resulting in an increase in cash.
My last position at that non-profit organization was most definitely my favorite. The increase awards in Grants and Contracts gave way to a need for an administrator to manage the funds received. I loved depositing large checks and tracking the expenses to make sure the funds were used correctly. My accounting knowledge increased greatly during this time and my love affair with financial statements began. There is a structure for money and if you treat it right; it will treat you well.
Life is a great adventure full of twists and turns. My life made a huge turn in 2005 when my kids became teenagers. Suddenly the job I loved was in full competition for my need to be home in the afternoon. I began looking for options that would balance work and home life. I realized that business owners are not unlike busy program directors who get involved in their business. Tracking revenue and expenses is not their priority. Since it is my passion, I knew that I could help. I could make a big impact on their life. I knew I had to be apart of that.
I left that non-profit and started my business with just two clients. Today, I work with over thirty clients helping them realize their dreams. I love money – no matter who it belongs too.
